Now located in a new purpose designed £32 million campus, the College provides the latest technology and study spaces offering a wide range of courses and qualifications that provide you with the skills and knowledge to enable you to progress on to university or into employment. As well as offering relaxing and comfortable social study areas, there are state of the art classrooms, workshops, studios and equipment that allow you to learn in a flexible and supported way. Our main campus is home to many of our realistic working environments including our Hair and Beauty Academy, in partnership with celebrity hairdresser, Lee Stafford Education, state of the art recording and photography studios, the theatre and our onsite restaurant, The Bistro. A stone’s throw away from the main campus is our IAMTech campus, (Institute of Advanced Manufacturing and Technology). This centre is focused on delivering technical qualifications that provide the skills needed by businesses in and around the Liverpool City Region. Here you will find engineering, fabrication and welding workshops, CNC machines, and 3D printers. It is also home to our construction workshops. Our industry standard equipment and expert tutors, across all campuses, provide you with real life sector experience; a key attribute that employers and universities are seeking. As a College we have plans to continue to grow our specialist sectors and build on our excellent results as the College with the best pass rates for school leavers in Liverpool. COLLEGEPAYS Our financial support service, known as ‘College Pays’, is designed to assist students with the costs involved with studying at College. Depending on your circumstances we have different levels of support. Students aged 16 – 18 are entitled to:

WHERE YOUWILL STUDY MAINCAMPUS Stockbridge Lane A £32 million investment, our Main Campus is home to a range of vocational subjects, alongside our Supported Learning and higher education provision. Comprising of the Stanley and Kemble Buildings, the Main Campus features IT-rich classrooms and state of the art facilities including a film studio, music studio, sensory area, all-weather pitches and more. WHERE YOUWILL STUDY IAMTechCAMPUS (INSTITUTE FORADVANCED MANUFACTURINGAND TECHNOLOGY) Princess Drive The Institute of Advanced Manufacturing and Technology, known as IAMTech, provides a simulated lean manufacturing environment. IAMTech houses new specialist equipment, offering courses designed and tailored by local industry experts, to enable you to gain cutting- edge technical skills that employers value. VIRTUALWELDINGTRAINING SYSTEM The VRTEX® 360 is a best-in-class, advanced level welding training system. It supports safe, waste free training and can be used to develop high class skills both in the classroom and at the workplace. CADSUITE Product design using state of the art technology is a skill necessary for future design engineers. Our CAD suite, updated with high resolution widescreen monitors and an updated 3D printer, provides state of the art training for our future engineers.

FAROARM Technology from the FARO arm permits high-precision 3D measurement, imaging and comparison of parts within production and quality assurance processes. CNCMACHINE Highly skilled operators will be required to support the design engineers. We have invested in an automated press brake and a high-end CNC machine to develop these highly sought after skills.

KIRKBYCAMPUS Cherryfield Drive The base of the Northern Logistics Academy our Kirkby Campus is located directly opposite the Town Centre and bus station. It houses a simulated production line environment, a forklift truck training warehouse, and much more.

Located next to Reception in both the Stanley Building and IAMTech, Learner Services is your one stop shop for information, advice and guidance. Highly qualified, friendly Advisers are there to help you with any support you may need. LEARNINGSUPPORT We offer individually tailored support to ensure you achieve your full potential. From physical disabilities to learning difficulties including dyslexia and visual impairment, our fully trained staff are on hand to offer the help and guidance you may need. SAFEGUARDINGANDPREVENT Our staff are fully trained in handling safeguarding concerns, and our Designated Safeguarding Advisers are available to deal with any safeguarding concerns you may have. We are also committed to PREVENT, the government’s strategy to prevent radicalisation and extremism, through working with all staff and students to identify the dangers of radicalisation and how to stay safe.

LEARNINGRESOURCECENTRE (LRC) The College LRC areas at the Main Campus and IAMTech provide a wide range of books and other materials to help you with your assignments and homework. Materials include books, computers, and access to specialist software, DVDs and course related journals. Our LRC Adviser is always ready to give you friendly, one to one or group support with your course. GROUPTUTORIAL TUTOR Every 16-18 year old student has a Group Tutorial delivered by one of your tutors. They will support you to make sure your work is the best it can be. Providing practical feedback to help you develop wider skills and knowledge. MYDAY MyDay is your homepage on all KCC computers and it’s available inside and outside college 24/7. It’s the one stop shop for you to access Moodle, keep track of your progress and attendance as well as store your timetable and calendar.

ENGLISHANDMATHS English and maths are valued as two of the most important skills by employers and universities. Students who have achieved grades 0-3 or a grade D or below at GCSE will continue to study GCSEs with a team of specialist tutors, whilst those who have already achieved a grade 4 or grade C or above will have the opportunity to further develop their skills. COLLEGEYOUTHWORKERS The College Youth Work team are located near Reception in the Main Campus and at IAMTech. They are there to support you and to help you get involved in activities inside and outside of College. ENRICHMENTACTIVITIES At KCC we offer a wide range of enrichment activities to enhance your programme of study and prepare you for your next steps. These include support with UCAS applications, interview skills, university visits, and more. We also encourage you to become a student ambassador, representing your fellow students on a range of Committees - a great addition to your UCAS statement and CV. WORKEXPERIENCE A key employability factor for any career is industry specific work experience. All of our full-time courses contain an element of work-related activity, and KCC’s links with a wide range of employers means possibilities for placement, guest speakers, employer visits, work-related projects and more.

As part of the new GCSE grading structure, reformed GCSEs will be graded from 9 to 1, instead of A* to G. Students being awarded GCSEs in 2018 will receive a mixture of 9 to 1 and A* to G grades. The top 20% of students who achieve a grade 7 or above in each exam will be awarded a grade 9. As a result of these new changes, students will not be affected, however, the entry criteria throughout this prospectus is outlined under the new structure. Use this table as a guide. LEWIS WEBSTER After studying Art & Design at KCC and landing Silver in the 2016 WorldSkills national heats, Lewis achieved distinction grades on his course and progressed to study at Nottingham Trent University with the aim of a career in graphic design. Whilst at the College, Lewis left his mark by not only organising the end of year Art & Design show, “A Reason To…”, but also designed and produced all of the promotional material.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER Role: Create visual content including branding, advertisements, magazines, photography and more, working to client design briefs. Salary: £16,000 - £50,000

PHOTOGRAPHER Role: Work to creative briefs to capture still and moving images, utilising a range of equipment and software, and editing as appropriate. Salary: £14,000 - £50,000

LEVEL 2 ART AND DESIGN The Level 2 study programme will allow you to gain a range of practical skills through drawing, printmaking, painting, 3D work and photography. The qualification is highly practical and is enhanced with trips to museums and galleries to gain an awareness of a range of traditional and contemporary artists to inform your artwork. You will engage in related work experience that will help you prepare for a career in Art and Design. Upon completion of this, you could progress on to our Level 3 programme.

LEVEL 3 ART AND DESIGN Building upon the knowledge and skills gained at Level 2, this study programme covers a wide range of areas across Art and Design and has a mix of practical and theoretical units. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in a wide range of areas including ceramics, photography and product design, whilst enhancing your knowledge through trips to museums and galleries. You will even put on your own exhibition. Upon completion of this, you could progress on to our Level 3 Foundation Diploma, on to university, or into employment.

Level 3 2 Years Main Campus

LEVEL 3 ART AND DESIGN (FOUNDATION DIPLOMA) The Foundation Diploma will enable you to identify your strengths and direction within Art and Design, helping you to select a pathway for degree level study. We will also offer guidance and advice with building your portfolio as well as help with university applications. DANIELLE MORRIS - MEDIA MAKEUP Level 3 Media Makeup student Danielle Morris gained employment with MAC Cosmetics whilst studying at KCC. Loving all things makeup, Danielle also took part in the Jane Iredale National Student Competition, where she won an all-expenses paid trip to London. This gave her an exclusive insight into the industry, in addition to a 'Jane Iredale' demo day for students.

BEAUTY THERAPIST Role: Offer treatments ranging from manicures and pedicures to skin treatments and aromatherapy, to make clients look and feel better. Salary: £15,000 - £20,000

MEDIA MAKEUP DESIGNER Role: Design and apply makeup for actors and on-screen presenters, working with production designers to plan appropriate styles and utilising special effects makeup. Salary: £300 daily (freelance)

LEVEL 2 MEDIA MAKEUP AND HAIR This Level 2 study programme has been specifically designed to enable you to learn both aspects of hairdressing and media makeup. It will provide you with all the skills and techniques for applying makeup or photographic makeup and the creative art of dressing hair. Upon completion of this, you could progress on to our Level 3 programmes in Beauty Therapy or Media Makeup.

LEVEL 2 BEAUTY THERAPY Working in our professional salons, you will learn all aspects of Beauty Therapy, including; facials, makeup, eye treatments, manicures, pedicures and waxing. Upon completion of this, you could progress on to our Level 3 programme.

LEVEL 3 BEAUTY THERAPY The Level 3 study programme in Beauty Therapy is intensive and thorough, covering both theory and practical aspects. During this study programme you will experience a range of electrical and manual treatments, and work on external clients. Anatomy and physiology forms a large part of the study programme. This is a technical level qualification providing the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as a beauty therapist. Upon completion of this, you could progress into employment.

LEVEL 3 MEDIA MAKEUP The Level 3 Media Makeup study programme is a highly specialised qualification for those seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed theatrical media makeup artist working with performers to a high level of occupational ability. You could be providing hair and makeup services in the media, theatre, performing arts, fashion and photographic industries. Upon completion of this, you could progress into employment.

Catering and Hospitality is a key industry to the local economy, and Knowsley Community College offers a range of industry-focused study programmes. From there, Bethany has progressed in her career, securing a position at Neighbourhood in Liverpool City Centre.

The Level 1 Catering and Hospitality study programme is a starter for anyone looking for a career in this key local industry. It is ideal for learners coming straight from school. Studying key principles such as menu planning, food preparation, dietary needs and food safety, you will work in our busy production kitchens serving food to customers in our restaurant, The Bistro. Upon completion of this, you can progress onto our Level 2 programme, or onto an apprenticeship in the industry.

Studying Level 2 Catering and Hospitality broadens your knowledge of the sector and exposure to the industry, designed for those wishing to work as professional chefs. You’ll gain experience in the preparation of food including meat, poultry and shellfish, alongside patisserie and baking. As part of your study programme you’ll also gain work experience in our restaurant, The Bistro, as well as catering for a range of events such as Liverpool City Region’s Visitor Economy Week. Upon completion of this, you can progress onto our Level 3 programme, or onto an apprenticeship in the industry.

Our Level 3 study programme in Catering and Hospitality is an advanced programme ideal for entry into careers in the sector, building upon Level 2 knowledge. DAVID CUNNINGHAM David started at Knowsley Community College studying Level 1 IT, before progressing to Level 2 and 3. From the College, David progressed to Edge Hill University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science. He then returned to the College, this time as a member of staff, taking on the role of IT Support Officer in the College IT Services team. LEVEL 1 CONSTRUCTION If you are interested in the construction industry, but not sure what trade to specialise in, this is the study programme for you. You will learn skills in using construction hand tools, and will carry out specific tasks in a variety of trades including joinery, tiling, painting and decorating. You will also have the opportunity to gain a Construction Site Safety Card (CSCS) and participate in work experience, preparing you for employment. Upon completion of this, you could specialise in a specific trade on a programme such as our Level 1 Plumbing, or you could progress onto an apprenticeship or into employment.

LEVEL 1 PLUMBING This Level 1 study programme will teach you skills that are transferable across many trades, including how to conduct yourself safely on a construction site, the structure of the construction industry and site preparation techniques. After this, you will specialise in plumbing, learning practical activities using different types of pipework including copper and plastic. You will also study above ground drainage and more. The Level 2 study programme allows you to acquire knowledge and craft skills of electrical installation utilising the IET On- Site guide, as well as being introduced to how regulations, including BS 7671, affect electrical installation. KEVIN HOOD & GARY DUNBAR CREATIVE MEDIA Together Kev and Gary form a duo with over 25 years’ experience in the music and media industries. Working on many live and studio projects, Kev has managed his own gallery and is a Theatre Manager at the St Helens Citadel while Gary has composed film soundtracks and produced promotional videos. The two love watching their students thrive and pushing boundaries in

MAEGAN CLEARY After studying Early Years at Knowsley Community College, Maegan was awarded The Entrance Excellence Scholarship in Volunteering, at Edge Hill University’s Annual Excellence Scholarship Award, progressing to study her degree in Children and Young People’s Learning and Development. The University awarded the scholarship to Maegan for her dedication to the charity Making a Difference (MAD), through which Maegan has utilised her skills in Early Years settings to help Ukrainian orphans, travelling to the country following conflict to assist with the refurbishment of an orphanage and organising activities for the disadvantaged children.

LEE STAFFORD Our Hairdressing team work in partnership with celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford. After starting as a hairdresser in his home county of Essex, Lee quickly rose to the top of the ranks, winning awards and opening his own salons. Hairdresser to a range of celebrities, Lee soon branched out into television, appearing on a range of shows such as the BBC’s Celebrity Scissorhands. Lee has a passion for education, and has worked with a range of organisations to develop staff knowledge and share his experience with students.
